What is Okta?

Okta is the world’s leading identity and access management solution. It’s job is to make your login experience as easy and secure as possible. 81% of data breaches involve weak or stolen login credentials, and Okta helps prevent those kinds of breaches.

Introduction to Okta

What is Single Sign-On?

Single sign-on (SSO) allows users to log in one time, using a single ID and password to access several software systems without re-entering their authentication factors each time.

What is Multifactor Authentication?

MFA adds a second layer of validation after you input your username and password. You may have experienced this when your bank texts you a number to continue to log into your account. For much of the State of Iowa enterprise, MFA is used for VPN login authentication.

How can I reset my password or unlock my account?

Great news! You can reset your password and unlock your account through Okta! Before you have the ability to self-serve (reset your password or unlock your account), you must add security credentials to your Okta account (login.iowa.gov). Follow these instructions to allow you to self-serve.

How can I update my Multifactor Authentications?

Did you get a new mobile device or phone number? If so, you will need to UPDATE your Multifactor Authentications (Okta Verify, SMS, Voice).

Follow the instructions outlined on the Updating - Multifactor Authentications page.
